On Thursday, March 11, Isles held its annual Faith for Health Breakfast, which was sponsored by Horizon NJ Health and Shaping NJ. This year’s topic was combating childhood obesity.
More than 50 representatives from faith, civic, city, state and private sectors attended this years event, where research was presented on the current epidemic of obesity and health related issues and ways to combat childhood obesity in Trenton was discussed.
There is a general consensus that obesity can be prevented when individuals are educated about and motivated to regularly practice healthy nutrition and exercise. Isles, in cooperation with faith and community leaders, will look to build on its success with the Trenton Spirit Walk to foster a culture of wellness that supports healthy behaviors for Trenton youth.
