Isles seeks a blend of male and female students from different backgrounds and places, with varying levels of academic performance.They must be between 16 and 24 years of age and may not have a high school diploma.
To become an IYI student, you must:
- Submit an application.
- Have a one-on-one interview at YouthBuild.
- Take an in-house exam, the Test of Adult Basic Education, to assess your academic skills.
- Participate in a five-day orientation and agree to a 30-day probation or “test” period.
- Complete OSHA, first-aid, and CPR training.
Because Isles wants its students to be ready for IYI, it looks at your:
- Desire to succeed at IYI.
- Ability to participate 100% in your own development.
- Capacity to handle conflict and hard work.
