
Mr. Simon is the Deputy Director of Community Planning and oversees urban agriculture, food-based education, and environmental education for children and adults. In addition, Mr. Simon oversees Isles’ Clean & Green vacant lot stabilization and improvement work along with other neighborhood arts and green infrastructure initiatives. In his 11 years at Isles, he has conducted numerous workshops on gardening basics, organic growing, composting, honeybees, rain gardens, rain barrel building, and cooking using seasonal produce. Mr. Simon has been involved in environmental and youth education for over thirty years, beginning as an employee of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. He is also a Master Gardener, having been trained through Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County. He is the chair of the Trenton Green Team, member of the New Jersey Beekeepers Association, and is on the steering committee of the Trenton Cycling Revolution, a bicycling advocacy group.
