Board

Steven Goodell is Chair of Isles’ Board of Trustees. He is a partner in the Princeton law firm Herbert, Van Ness, Cayci & Goodell. He has been a lawyer for 22 years. He began his career as an assistant Mercer County prosecutor and now represents municipalities, corporations and nonprofits in litigation and administrative matters. He joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2005.

April Aaronson is Vice Chair of Isles’ Board of Trustees. She is director of policy, planning and evaluation for the New Jersey Department of Human Services in Trenton. Formerly, she directed the Mercer County Department of Human Services and served as deputy director of the Division of Youth and Family Services in the New Jersey Department of Human Services. Prior to her state and county roles, she served as director of health and human services for Trenton. April lives in Trenton and joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2008.

Ann Marie Senior is Secretary of Isles’ Board of Trustees. She is the director of the Office of Institutional Research and Outcomes Assessment at Thomas Edison State College. Previously, she worked as the director of the Student Support Services Program at Rider University. Ann Marie has an extensive empirical and applied research background. She lives in Trenton and joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2008.

Manish H. Shah is Treasurer of Isles’ Board of Trustees. He is a financial representative with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, as well as a certified pension consultant and certified estate planner. Before that, Manish worked as managing partner and founder of The Source and as president of McCleary Trading Corp. He joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2004.

Edward J. Butler is a juvenile corrections program expert with more than 20 years of educational, recreational management and military experiences, including extensive administration and training of youth, staff and clients. He has a 17-year career as an officer in the US Army National Guard, and was honorably discharged in 1996. A Trenton resident, he was senior vice president of Isles from 2001 to 2005, managing the Isles’ YouthBuild Institute. Ed joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2008.

Thomas Byrne is president of Byrne Asset Management, LLC in Princeton and has extensive background in the financial markets. He is an officer and trustee of the Fund for New Jersey and recently stepped down as board chair of the Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, a school he helped to found in 1999. He is on the New Jersey advisory board of the Regional Plan Association and joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2008.

Zane Dion Clark, Sr. is a dedicated community activist, as well as a mainstay at the Trenton City Council meetings. Growing up in Trenton’s East Ward, Zane learned about community pride at a young age.  He attended and graduated from the Trenton public school system, and continued his studies at Mercer County Community College. Zane is also a member of the NAACP-Trenton Branch Executive Committee and the Trenton Council of Civic Associations. He joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Barbara Coe is currently volunteering at several nonprofits in the Mercer County area. Previously, she was a senior vice president, management supervisor at Young and Rubicam Advertising in New York for 15 years. Barbara currently serves on the board of the Princeton Area Community Foundation and is a member of its Committee of Trustees and Grants Committee. She also serves on the Advisory Board of Answer, formerly known as the Network for Family Life Education. She originally joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 1998 and rejoined in 2009.

Michael Dundas is acting director of Shiloh Community Development Corporation in Trenton. Previously, he was the church business administrator and then the project manager at Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton. In both positions, he skillfully maintained cohesive relationships between all stakeholders, including the church’s trustees, board of directors, executive management, city government, and the community-at-large. Michael lives in Trenton and joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2009.

Liz Gray Erickson worked for Save the Children where she co-founded Youth Noise – now a web-centered nonprofit that inspires and empowers young people to become a force for social change. She previously worked for American Express in marketing and Bloomberg Asia in sales. She is a member of the board of directors of Youth Noise, Hands on Helpers and Kidsbridge Children’s Museum. Liz joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2008.

Robert H. Harris is a co-founder of ENVIRON International Corporation, and he has over 30 years of experience in environmental health and engineering, with particular emphasis on water and air pollution and hazardous waste issues. He is currently Visiting Lecturer in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Princeton University. Prior to founding ENVIRON, Bob was Co-Director of the Hazardous Waste Research Program at Princeton University. He previously advised President Carter on matters affecting the environment as a Member on the President’s Council on Environmental Quality and was a Senior Scientist at the non-profit Environmental Defense Fund. He joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Rev. Karen Hernandez-Granzen has served as pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Trenton since 1995. She was instrumental in expanding Get Scholastic Enhancement Tutoring (Get S.E.T.), Partnering with parents and all Trenton Youth Connection (TYC) programs. Karen has extensive experience working as a youth director at Presbyterian churches in urban settings. Her work has brought her face to face with youth and gangs in Brooklyn, the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago. She joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2008.

Jacque P. Howard is an FRS client solutions specialist at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch. He is also a board member for Westminster Wellspring Inc in Trenton, which is a nonprofit that promotes and offers educational, life and holistic service to the underserved in Trenton and the surrounding areas. Jacque joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Martin Johnson is the founder and CEO of Isles, Inc. In addition to his work at Isles, he has worked to build the capacity of the community development sector statewide and on a national level. He serves as a member of Isles’ Board of Trustees in an ex officio capacity.

Amy E. Lerman is an assistant professor of politics and public affairs in the Department of Politics and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. She is currently a member the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, the Law and Society Association, and the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management. Amy joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Renee C. Riddle-Davison is the director of the Calvary Dance Academy and the fitness coordinator for the Greater Trenton Area YMCA. She served as the volunteer fitness instructor and outreach coordinator for Isles’ Spirit Walk campaign, and is a certified fitness professional. Renee has been a resident of Trenton for over 20 years, and she joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Allen I. Rowe served as the associate director and treasurer of the Institute for Advanced Study, one of the world’s leading centers for theoretical research and intellectual inquiry, in Princeton for 30 years. Prior to that, he was the business manager and associate division head of the plasma physics laboratory at Princeton University. Allen currently serves as the treasurer for the Marquand Park Foundation and a trustee of the Princeton Health Care Foundation, as well as an advisory board member of PlanSmart NJ. He joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2009.

Sa Mut A. Scott is the founder and senior life skills coach of Magical Mother Coaching and Empowerment Services. Prior to that, she was the student services coordinator and student life skills coach at the Premier Education Group/Harris School of Business and Health Careers. Also, as a business owner, Angela has 11 years of experience in business management, employee recruitment and retention, marketing, business finances, and public and employee relations. She joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Tracy Sipprelle is the president of the Sipprelle Charitable Corp. She is also involved with the Historical Society of Princeton, YWCA Valley Road School, and the Garden Club of Princeton, and serves as an executive board member of the Peddie School Parents’ Association. Tracy is currently involved in helping support and grow a boarding school for girls in Marrakech, Morocco. Tracy and her husband Scott have been actively involved in several new initiatives for Isles. She joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2010.

Fareeda Stokes is the owner and a sales associate at SBR Reality in Trenton. Previously, she worked as a Real Estate Consultant for Keller Williams Reality in Princeton. She has an extensive background in sales and finance. Fareeda joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2009.

Brian Trelstad
is the chief investment officer at Acumen Fund. Previously, he was a consultant at McKinsey & Company in the healthcare and nonprofit practices and editor of the McKinsey Quarterly. He wrote case studies at Stanford University’s Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and advised early-stage technology companies. He was lead environmental staffer for President Clinton’s AmeriCorps program and co-founded the Center for Environmental Citizenship. He joined Isles’ Board of Trustees in 2004.
