Volunteer

Want to get involved with Isles?

Isle’s mission to foster self-reliant families and healthy, sustainable communities relies on the support and engagement of community members to join us in our work.

Individual Volunteers work on specific projects and tasks throughout Isles. Volunteers working with personal information must sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement. Please look through the list of brief descriptions below, and click here to fill out the volunteer information form.

Volunteer Groups typically work on a single project for a specific period of time. Some groups provide funding for supplies and materials.  Workdays are scheduled periodically throughout the year, as needed, and advance planning is required.

Contact [email protected] to learn more about any of these opportunities!

Urban Agriculture
  • Group Volunteer Days – our community gardens are ideal for groups of 15 or under to participate in a day of service. Prior planning of the project is required, but both indoor and outdoor projects can be arranged.
  • Adopt a community garden – Individuals can join a garden support network or volunteer on an as-needed basis.
Isles Financial Solutions

Once a year, an event is hosted by the IFS team to help educate first-time home-buyers on the process and resources available to assist in buying a new home. Staff can always use assistance getting the word out, volunteers to set up and break down, and on-site individuals to act as resources for attendees.

Pro-Bono Directory

Join a group of individuals who have offered the time, experience, and expertise to improve financial services we are able to offer our constituents.

Isles Youth Institute

Professional Visitors and Career Exploration
Guest speakers take time to talk about professional development and diverse career paths, giving our students exposure to futures and occupations they wouldn’t otherwise have considered.

Mentoring & Tutors
Make a multi-month commitment to mentor one or more Isles Youth Institute (IYI) students. Mentors do fun, healthy activities with their mentees a few times per month, and they serve as a positive and caring role model for our students.

Academic tutors who can make a regular time-commitment between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays are needed. This is an on-going volunteer position.

Job Development Hosts
IYI would like to connect with organizations who have the capacity to host internships, shadowing days, or special projects for our students to work on, learn valuable skill-sets, and build their resume.

Community Planning and Development

Individual volunteers can assist in site surveying through the Trenton community, as well as helping with neighborhood beautification projects.
